AAS19: MT KENYA TREK EXTENDED

For the nature admirer who simply wants to have a leisurely day walking around the Mt Kenya, or the hiker with the desire to explore the unique forest of the lower slopes of the Mt Kenya - hoping to have that glimpse of the summits, and for the more ambitious technical climber who wishes to have a go at the twin summits of Mt Kenya i.e. Batian & Nelion.

Foot Safari to Mt. Kenya (4 Days)

This itinerary is similar to the "three-day foot safari / trek to Mt. Kenya", but it has three distinct advantages:

Day 1:
An extra day could be spent acclimatizing in Teleki Valley, walking through some of the beautiful country in the area. You would then climb Pt. Lenana on the 4th day and then descend to the lodge.

Day 2:
You can climb Pt. Lenana and return to Mackinder’s Camp on the day three and then make a leisurely descend to the lodge on day four.

Day 3:
For the climber who is feeling well and if the weather is good, after reaching Pt. Lenana. It is possible to circumnavigate the main peaks. This is a full day and the walking is a bit strenuous, but very well worth it.

This safari is definitely for those who "want to keep their options open".
