Amboseli Game Reserve, formerly Amboseli National Park is in Kajiado District, Rift Valley Province in Kenya. The park is 3,260-square kilometer (1,260-square mile) in size and the local people are mainly Maasai, but people from other parts of the country have settled there attracted by the successful tourist-driven economy. Nairobi is a prime tourist destination. The most famous park is the Nairobi National Park. It is unique, in being the only game-reserve of this nature to border a capital city, or city of this size. The park contains many animals including lions and giraffes. The park is home to over 400 species of bird, which is more than the entire British Isles. Nairobi is home to several museums. The National Museum of Kenya is the largest in the city. It houses a large collection of artifacts, including the full remains of a Homo erectus boy (The Turkana Boy). The Masai Mara (also spelled Masai Mara) is a large park reserve in south-western Kenya, the 7th Wonder of the world, (the most famous in Kenya) which is effectively the northern continuation of the Serengeti National Park game reserve in Tanzania. Named for the Maasai tribes people (the traditional inhabitants of the area) and the Mara River which divides it, it is famous for its exceptional population of game and the annual migration of the wildebeest every September and October, a migration so immense to be called The Great Migration.
