Special Mt Kenya Climbing Requirements
Health and Fitness Requirements:
Any one contemplating one of our expeditions should take regular exercises and a physical check up. Our safaris are demanding and if you are not physically fit you will not enjoy them. Start a fitness training program at least one month before your safari. Running, swimming, cycling and stair climbing are all good ways of toning up muscles.
Seasons for climbing Mt. Kenya: Our climbing seasons are from mid- December to mid- March and from mid –June to the end September. These traditional climbing periods are the most predictable; however the chances of encountering good weather on the mountain are equal throughout the year, so the timing of your safari is not critical.
List of ‘some’ personal mountain equipment: Anorak, rain coat, balaclava rain trouser, battery, rucksack, duffel bag, sleeping bag, gaiter, gloves, stick, sunglasses, mountain boots, water bottle, thick sweater, torch, underwear trouser, socks, sun cream, medication etc.
Transport to Naro Moru Base Lodge: If your itinerary does not include accommodation at the base lodge, you can take the shuttle from Nairobi , available for a minimum cost of US$53 per person minimum 2 persons.
